St. Michael's, Newfoundland
In the beautiful town of St. Michael's, just on the back end of Tors Cove, stood a studio of great historical significance in Newfoundland, The St. Michael's Printshop. Next to that space was the St.Michael's Church, one of the most stunning acoustic spaces on the Island. The printshop organization has long since moved to St.John's. The printshop space and the decommissioned church are now dedicated to the performing arts: music, theatre and dance. Run by legendary sound engineer Don Ellis and well known theatre director Jillian Keiley, the space is a retreat, creation, and recording space for artists who are looking for inspiration, collaboration, and rejuvenation.

Jill and Don
Jillian Keiley and Don Ellis are lifelong specialists in theatre and sound — devoted to the creation, research, and celebration of the performing arts.
Don’s acclaimed recording career, including his work with Fat Tracks, has shaped the sound of countless performances and albums across Newfoundland. Jill, a director and producer who founded the reknowned Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland and led the National Arts Centre’s English Theatre for nearly a decade, has always dreamed of creating a space in her beloved Newfoundland where artists could gather, imagine, and make extraordinary work.
That dream found a home when St. Michael’s Church became available — a place filled with light, history, and resonance. It was impossible to say no. Shortly after, they also acquired the former St. Michael’s Printshop, adding to the site’s rich artistic lineage.
This is not an Airbnb. It is a sanctuary — offered only to artists who are creating, collaborating, and striving to make the world a better place through their work.
